Construction Setting out across the country

Providing a reliable and accurate setting out solution

We supply Site/Setting out engineers across South and West Wales. They come fully equipped with the latest Total Station and GPS equipment.

Our Total stations are Trimble S7 3" Robotic instruments. Our GPS equipment is Trimble R8s and E-survey E600 Instrument. The E600 is particularly useful as it offers a tilt function which allows us to measure with the detail pole on a angle. Particularly useful for measuring under tree cover and parked cars etc.

Some of our recent Site engineering projects include:

A40 Llanddewi Velfrey Bypass - Griffiths Civil Engineering

On this project the engineer was responsible for the setting out on multiple sections. Works included drainage, kerbing, surfacing.

Also a large element was pre construction surveys of live roads, regular cut and fill surveys and checking for any design issues.

We were pleased to also be working alongside their sub-contractors on this project including CR Civils.

The museum of Speed Pendine, Carmarthenshire, West Wales

Here our site engineer had to provide the setting out for WRW Construction. The Project included one two hundred and forty cube reinforced concrete raft foundation for the museum and another one hundred and eighty cube pour for the hostel. The museum building and had to be built to passivhaus principles. Whilst the hostel was built to passivhaus accreditation. He had to ensure all the drainage was installed accurately including over sixty pop ups. He liaised with the steel fixers, ensure we had the steel on site and that it was built to the drawings. Many checks for alignment of shuttering were carried out as the tolerances for the timber and steel frames were small. It all came together in the end with marking out the holding down bolts and working with the steel frame erectors.

Five Mile Lane Rising Main, Barry South Wales

On this project our site engineer was working night shifts with J N Bentley on a Dwr Cymru Welsh water project. A three hundred millimeter diameter rising main was to be installed up a road named Five Mile Lane in Barry, South Wales. Our site engineer was responsible for the setting out including position and level of the rising main. They also monitored noise levels, ground conditions and general management on site. As built surveys were carried out, processed and submitted every night. It was a pleasure to be a part of the success of this scheme and reach the end.
